How to reply to Instagram comments and DMs with AI drafts

Every comment answered, every DM in your inbox acknowledged, every story tag from people you already talk to thanked — without writing each reply from scratch and without the kind of automation that gets accounts flagged. Here is what Instagram actually allows, what gets people banned, and how to do it from a computer in a way that reads as you.

First, what gets accounts flagged

Instagram does not ban accounts for replying to comments. It bans them for behaving like a script: hundreds of identical messages, replies within a second of the comment, the same text to fifty strangers, messages to people who never wrote first. Every “auto DM” tool that ended up in a one-star review did one of those things on someone’s account.

So the rule for automating replies safely is not “don’t”. It is: reply to people who spoke to you, say something specific to what they said, at a human pace, with a hard limit, and stop the moment Instagram pushes back. A tool that cannot promise all five is a tool you should not sign into.

The trade-off, stated plainly: a reply written by a model is a reply you did not write. If it says something wrong, it says it in your name. That is why every reply below is a draft: it is written for you, in your voice, and nothing goes out until you have read it and pressed Send. There is no automatic sending.

Setting it up

  1. Open instagram.com with InstaDesk installed. Open the menu and pick the AI row, then the Memory tab.
  2. Fill in About you: who you are, what the account is for, how you talk, and what you never say. The replies are written from this and from your own past captions, so five honest sentences here is what makes them sound like you.
  3. Add the questions you get asked — price, shipping, hours, how to book — with your exact answers. When someone asks one of those, the reply uses your words, not the model’s guess.
  4. Switch to the Autopilot tab, read the risk notice, and tick it. Nothing runs until you have.
  5. Turn on Reply to comments on my posts and Reply to my DMs.
  6. Press Check now. It reads your latest posts, their comments and your inbox, and writes a draft for everything that is waiting on you.

What a pass actually does

Every thirty minutes while Instagram is open, Autopilot reads your recent posts, the new comments on them, and the one-to-one conversations where the other person spoke last. It skips your own comments, comments that are only emoji, anything with a link, and group chats. For what is left it writes one reply each, in your voice, and puts them in a list with a Send and a Skip button under every one. Message requests, from people you don’t already talk to, can’t be read from instagram.com right now, so they get no draft: Autopilot says how many are waiting, and you answer them in Instagram itself.

The caps are fixed in the code and cannot be raised from any setting: at most four comment replies an hour and twenty a day, three DMs an hour and twelve a day, however fast you press Send. If Instagram pushes back on a send, Autopilot switches itself off and says why; if it asks you to log in again or verify, everything pauses for a day.

Story tags, new followers, and “comment LINK”

Three smaller routines sit under the same switch. Thank people who tag you in a story writes a short thank-you when someone puts your account in their story, once per tag. A tag from someone you don’t already talk to lands in your message requests, which InstaDesk can’t read right now, so it gets no thank-you. Welcome new followers writes a hello for people who followed after you switched it on, never for anyone already following. Comment a word, get a DM is the “comment LINK and I’ll send it” pattern: you set the word and the message, and a DM with exactly that message waits for the person who commented it, with no model involved. All three wait in the same list for your Send.

Sending

Read a draft, change it if you want, and press Send; or press Send all for the whole list, which sends what is on screen, edits included. The caps apply to every press, and every sent reply is written to the Activity log with the post or conversation it went to. Anything that looks like a pitch or a scam is marked, so you can skip it.

Common questions

Does this risk my account?

Less than doing it by hand at 2am does, honestly, because the limits are enforced rather than intended. The risk that remains is a wrong reply in your name, which is why every reply is a draft you read first. Read the notice before you tick it; it says the same thing without the softening.

Where does my data go?

The record Autopilot reads from lives on your computer. When it writes a reply, the comment or message and a short summary of your account go to InstaDesk’s model provider to produce the text, and nothing is kept there. Your login never leaves your browser; the extension uses the Instagram session you are already signed into.

Can it answer in other languages?

It answers in the language the person wrote in, and matches their tone. Your About you notes can be in any language too.

What does it cost?

Ten Autopilot actions are included to try it — a drafting pass, or sending a reply InstaDesk’s AI wrote, each. With your own AI key they are not counted. After that it is part of InstaDesk Pro at $1.99 a month, alongside the AI, scheduling and the rest. Posting, stories, downloads and real Instagram audio stay free.

Replies written in your voice Drafts you send, capped in the code, and it stops the moment Instagram pushes back.
