Looking for an Instagrow alternative

Instagrow and InstaDesk do a lot of the same things: both are Chrome extensions that publish, schedule and download Instagram content from a desktop, and neither asks for your Instagram password. This is written by the people who make one of them, so here is the short version up front — they are close on publishing, and the real difference is what happens after you have posted.

First, make sure it is the same Instagrow

Several unrelated extensions use this name, which makes searching for it confusing. This page compares “Instagram Post Scheduler & Downloader — Instagrow”, made by VibeGrow. There is also an InstaGrow Z, which is an automation tool rather than a publishing one, and an older Instagrow: IG Email Scraper, which was removed from the store in September 2025. If you are comparing against either of those, this page is not the right one.

“Not listed” means the feature does not appear in Instagrow’s published description — not that it is impossible in the product. Details as listed on 30 August 2026; both products change.

1. Where they genuinely overlap

This is not a case where one tool does everything and the other does nothing. Instagrow publishes posts, carousels, reels and stories from Chrome, adds Instagram music to stories, schedules drafts into time slots, downloads and backs up your media, and keeps reusable hashtag sets and DM replies. That is most of what a creator needs to post from a desktop, and it is free to install.

InstaDesk does all of those too, and also keeps publishing free permanently — including attaching real Instagram audio to a reel, which several tools in this category charge for. If posting from a desktop is the whole of your problem, both tools will solve it, and you should pick on feel.

2. The difference is what happens after you post

Everything in InstaDesk’s paid tier is about the part that comes after publishing: knowing whether it worked, and who is on the other end.

None of that appears in Instagrow’s description. If your question is “how do I post from my computer”, that gap will not matter to you. If it is “why did that post do nothing”, it is the whole thing.

3. Pricing works differently, and the comparison needs care

InstaDesk is $7.99 a month, $49 a year, or $129 once. The lifetime plan includes every feature added later, with nothing carved out. Publishing and downloading are free permanently, and every paid tool has free uses that do not expire.

Instagrow is free to install and works without an account. Its listing says a VibeGrow account “saves your setup and connects plan limits”, and that the Growth Suite “adds higher Instagrow limits”. VibeGrow’s own pricing page lists Pro at $30/mo and Max at $200/mo, sold as monthly credits with concurrent- and scheduled-job limits.

Two honest caveats on that comparison. First, $30/mo buys the whole VibeGrow marketing suite, not just the extension — it is not a like-for-like price for a browser tool, and if you want the rest of the suite it may be good value. Second, Instagrow’s own free limits are not published anywhere we could find, so we cannot tell you what the free tier actually allows. That is worth checking before you rely on it.

When Instagrow is the better choice

If you already use VibeGrow, or you want one subscription covering marketing work beyond Instagram, the extension is part of a larger product and picking it keeps everything in one place. InstaDesk is a browser extension and nothing else — there is no dashboard, no team seats, no campaign tooling, and no plan to add any.

And if you only ever post and download, Instagrow does that free, so the honest answer is that you may not need to pay either of us.

Where we think InstaDesk wins

Nothing leaves your computer. No account to create, no server of ours for your drafts and media to sit on, and no password handed to anybody. Instagrow also uses your existing browser session, which we think is the right design — but its plan limits are tied to a VibeGrow account, and ours are not tied to anything.

The paid tier is one price, not a credit balance. $7.99 a month with no job counts to manage, or $129 once and never again.

Everything the extension does is written down. The Activity log records every action InstaDesk has taken on your account, including the ones you asked for. It exists so a claim about what a tool does can be checked rather than trusted.

On automation, plainly. InstaDesk includes a growth tool that can like and follow on hashtags. It is off until you switch it on, capped at a limit you cannot raise, stops on the first sign of push-back from Instagram, and writes every action to the Activity log. It will never comment or send a message — that is not built at any price. If you would rather have no automation in your browser at all, that is a reasonable position, and you should leave it switched off.
